SafeHarbor Technology achieves new growth milestones
SafeHarbor, one of the largest employers in Grays Harbor County, increasing employment, client base and revenues
Satsop, Wash., Feb. 5, 2003 — It is not business as usual for SafeHarbor Technology Corp., the leading Web self-service support provider, which today announced major milestones in its revenue, employee and client growth.
The company has just achieved six consecutive months of record revenue. Since its inception, SafeHarbor has achieved quarter-over-quarter revenue growth in 15 of the last 16 quarters. Quarterly revenue in Q4 2002 rose more than 50 percent over Q4 2001.
Behind this revenue growth are several new client contracts with both existing and new customers. In the past several months, SafeHarbor has inked deals with industry leaders such as TiVo, NTT/Verio and SunTrust Banks and is expected to announce additional new clients in the coming months. SafeHarbor provides Web self-service support, as well as assisted support services such as phone and e-mail, for large enterprises including Washington Mutual and American Airlines.
"We are seeing increased traction for business process outsourcers like SafeHarbor, because we can significantly cut support costs while improving customer satisfaction," said Brian Sterling, SafeHarbor CEO and co-founder. "Companies in technology, financial services and many other industries are seeing the value of letting the Web self-service experts design and deploy the Web support environment and manage it on an ongoing basis."
During the second half of 2002, SafeHarbor also started hiring again, adding 30 new employees to its headquarters in Satsop, Wash. Its current employee base of nearly 200 makes SafeHarbor one of the top 15 employers in all of Grays Harbor County, including public, government and private organizations.1 SafeHarbor has a human resources policy of paying Seattle-level wages, even though the cost of living in Grays Harbor County is significantly lower than in King County.
"It has always been our goal to not only build a great company but to build it here in Grays Harbor County where my co-founders and I grew up, and we are doing just that," said Sterling. "During the past 18 months, SafeHarbor has doubled its revenue, reduced overall expenses by 25 percent and lowered losses by more than 90 percent, putting us well on the road to profitability."
SafeHarbor delivers more than 450,000 support solutions per month on average, including self-service and assisted support, and provides detailed analytics for its clients. SafeHarbor is not alone in adding jobs to Grays Harbor. Overall at the Satsop Development Park, where SafeHarbor was the anchor tenant, employment has risen from some 300 jobs one year ago to more than 400 today. Currently, some 25 companies and contractors are utilizing office space and facilities at the Satsop Development Park. 2
